Guest Artist Gregory Halpern



Gregory Halpern will be visiting our class this week on Wednesday, October 15. Here is a brief bio from the Harvard website where he is a visiting faculty this year.

"Halpern received an MFA from California College of the Arts in 2004 and an AB in history and literature from Harvard University in 1999. His work has been shown at the Oakland Museum of California, Jack Hanley Gallery in San Francisco, Momenta Art in Brooklyn, the Yuerba Beuna Center for the Arts in San Francisco, the Warehouse Gallery at Syracuse University, the African American Museum in Philadelphia, and SF CameraWork and Southern Exposure in San Francisco. In 2005 he was the recipient of the Aaron Siskind Foundations Individual Photographer’s Fellowship as well as the John Gutmann Photography Fellowship. In 2003 he published Harvard Works Because We Do (Quantuck Lane Press), a book about the lives of service workers at Harvard University. He has been an artist-in-residence at the Bemis Center for Contemporary Arts and the Vermont Studio Center, and from 2006–07 he was guest artist at Risley Residential College for the Creative and Performing Arts at Cornell University. He is currently working on a series of altered video game stills, as well as a book of photographs from Buffalo, New York."
